Case of the Week
This example of Candida esophagitis shows a lichenoid/lymphocyte predominant pattern of background injury, suggesting that there is something else going on in addition to the infection. An apoptotic keratinocyte is noted in the low power image and Candida in the high power ones.
Case by Dr. Elizabeth Montgomery, Clinical Professor, Vice Chair of Faculty Development & Mentoring, Director of Surgical Pathology Fellowship Training Program, Co-Director, Pathology Reference Services, and Editor-In-Chief at Innovative Science Press.
