Bio 

Dr. Valerie A. Fitzhugh is an associate professor and Interim Chair of Pathology, Immunology, and Laboratory Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

 

Dr. Fitzhugh completed her MD at New Jersey Medical School in 2004. Following her pathology residency at New Jersey Medical School, she completed a fellowship in cytopathology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York, NY. In 2009 she joined the faculty at New Jersey Medical School. She became a member of the faculty at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2018, resulting in a joint appointment.

 

Dr. Fitzhugh is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology and cytopathology. She is an author of peer-reviewed publications on bone and soft tissue pathology and cytopathology and has presented nationally and internationally on bone and soft tissue pathology.
