Prostate Biopsy: Your Diagnosis?

Andres Matoso, MD

Answer: Cribriform clear cell hyperplasia. This is a gland with cribriform architecture composed of cells with small nuclei and inconspicuous nucleoli. Note clusters of basal cells at the periphery of the duct/gland. This should not be confused with cribriform cancer (either intraductal carcinoma or invasive cribriform carcinoma). The key is to recognize the lack of cytologic atypia.
