Case

"Adenoid" basal cell carcinoma, a curious but clinically insignificant variant of BCC, has irregular pools of blue mucin/myxoid. Do not confuse it with the very rare cutaneous adenoid cystic carcinoma, which has "punched out" sharply circumscribed round pools.

This case was provided by Dr. Jerad Gardner, a Dermatopathologist, Bone and Soft Tissue Pathologist, and Section Head of the Soft Tissue and Bone Pathology at the Geisinger Medical Center. More cases are featured in his book Survival Guide to Dermatopathology published by Innovative Science Press.
